Sanferfin 2012, the last party

“Sanferfin the Last Party”, t-shirt for Sanfermin 2012

In line with a long-established habit of connecting the protagonist drawing for their annual Sanfermin tee shirt with some current topical theme, on this occasion the tee shirt designed by Kukuxumusu displays a parody of the Maya end-of-the-world prophesy and sets the scene right in the heart of the running of the bulls. As Mikel Urmeneta points out, the tee shirt Sanferfin The Last Party “has a laugh at this possibility which some doomsday “experts” have predicted, based on their reading of the Maya calendar system which concludes that the Maya almanac shows that the end of the world will take place in 2012 and consequently this year will see the final Sanfermin fiestas of all time.”

The Fallas from Valencia in Sanfermin

The Fallas de Valencia Festival will this year be the festival elected to receive a special homage on the IV Jai Day, an annual sanfermin celebration created by Kukuxumusu four years ago in order to extol the virtues of the concept of a universal fiesta scene. A special “ninot” constructed in wood and at a height of more than four meters, built by the experienced falla carpenter, Vicente Tornador will be placed in the Baluarte square in Pamplona. There will also be two giant-sized paellas cooked by the chef from Valencia, Rafael Vidal, which will be distributed to the public at large, on the day. Kiddies’ bullrunning, erotic photo and Sanfermin.com special

Kukuxumusu will once again celebrate the annual kiddies bullrunning – the encierro txiki. They also celebrated this special event for the kids last year in Estafeta Street. It is now 25 years since the last real running of the bulls as a special children’s event, took place when real young calves were used. Kukuxumusu wishes to promote an event for the kiddies, even if the bulls are giant-sized stuffed animals. The popular blue bull, Mister Testis, along with some of his “brothers” will run the few hundred meters along the street – the distance which seperates the two Kukuxumusu stores which are to be found in this downtown street. The event will take place next Thursday, 12th of July, at seven in the evening.

Sanfermin-ending 2012, the final fiesta before total destruction

The Maya civilization, crowded with jungle, predicted two ends to the world, their own and the end for the rest of the world. In the first case they got things right and in the second case we may discover the prediction in December, 2012. If they are right, the next Sanfermin fiestas will be the las ones to be held and for that reason Kukuxumusu is editing Sanferfín -ending- 2012, –The Last Party,- a tee shirt to commemorate a catalytic ending. In any case, beyond any question of prophesy, what is sure is that there will be a hell of a fiesta before the whole world goes bust.
