Up to just a few years ago, it was thought that the first person to die as a result of a goring in the running of the bulls was a young man from the town of Sangüesa, Esteban Domeño. However, now several experts on the theme of the running of the bulls, have discovered in the newspaper archives that there was an earlier death: Seemingly, Francisco García Gurrea, from the town of Falces, was gored and stampeded on in the running of the bulls on the 7th of July, – 103 years ago this very day.
The difficulty in registering him as a death from the running of the bulls lies in the fact that he did not suffer an immediate demise, but in fact died from his wounds and injuries some days later.
