Fun for the kiddies

There is no denying that Sanfermin is a non-stop nine-day party for the adults. But for sure, some of the kiddies have an even better time of it than many adults. They live the fiestas during the daytime, and there are no shortage of shows and events for them: Puppet shows, Kiddie’s Running of the Bulls, Giants and Bigheads … the kids don’t miss a second of the magic fun.

Street shows

The streets are filled with performances both night and day, amusing the passing public or making them laugh. This year there were some novel and original performances, like this one you can see in the photo as well as some of the more standard ones such as the mimes, the lead cowboy or the break dancers.

Shoulder high

There is no greater honor for a bullfighter than to be carried out shoulder high from the bullring after giving a noteworthy performance in the arena. Even for the imitation matadors. This supposed matador managed to get carried out shoulder high along with the exit of the Peña clubs, taking one of his “ears” awarded to him in the bullring.

Fiesta on the streets

In Sanfermin the fiesta goes on 24 hours a day and on the streets there are shows and performances for all tastes. However, one of the wildest scenes is the exit of the Peña clubs from the bullring each evening after the bullfights are over. The ambience is wild and joyful as the brass bands liven up the street scene with their Sanfermin music.

It’s time for a selfie

During these Sanfermines, one of the most frequent sights to be seen was the “Selfie trend”. We saw selfies of the party scene, of the drinking sessions, of the bulls, etc. In short, just about every Sanfermin event was snapped from a selfie angle. A perfect example is this photo taken just minutes before the Running of the Bulls, where a gang of lads couldn’t resist a selfie of themselves. Brave lads!

Fear around the streets

The terror of all the kids in Pamplona, and indeed, the rest of us as well; Caravinagre. There are various big-heads among the entourage of The Giants but the worst one is, without any doubt, this one. In this photo, we can see how he is already lurking in wait for the camera, which, after taking his photo, will then get what it deserves for daring to photo his fearful face.

Sanfermin fiestas attract thousands and thousands of people who are looking for enjoyment and fun. But it also brings in people who are looking for a chance to make some money doing whatever is needed to be done. And this year there was a veritable invasion of underlings all over Pamplona. There were also lots of the usual street shows and performances, as is normal in Sanfermin.

Mr. Testis, doing his thing

Mr. Testis simply cannot be left alone during Sanfermin, because at the very least opportunity he gets himself into a knot, wherever he may be. Be it out on the town at all hours with glass in hand, or be it trotting on the course of the Running of the Bulls or just annoying any poor soul who crosses his path. However, if the truth be told, he is also clearly the number one favorite among the kiddies and among the grandparents.

“Break” the streets

Along Carlos III Street you can find just about anything during Sanfermin; music, puppets, dressed-up figures, etc. etc. It is certainly on this street that most of these displays and performances are to be found. This is just one of these displays, and it seems to have been one of the most popular things to watch for those visitors who came to Pamplona. This group of young people livened up the street with their skills at doing “break dance” every afternoon.

It would seem that some people really prepared themselves well for these past Sanfermin fiestas and besides, they were able to find some good space for themselves in the Plaza del Castillo main square, crowded with people all over the fiestas. All they needed to have a good time was their own company and an ice-box. That’s the style!
