Today marks the 25th anniversary of one of the most dramatic and spectacular running of the bulls ever seen. The Cebada Gago bull-ranch featured in this bullrunning which was the most dangerous and dramatic that many runners had ever experienced in their lives.
It happened on the 12th of July, 1988, when one of the bulls, Doloroso II, from this Cadiz bull-ranch, turned back and went all the way back to the pens in Santo Domingo. So, it covered most of the course twice and the second time, it was all alone, with all the danger that that implies. It was one of the longest-lasting bullrunnings in living memory as it took all of 8 min. 8 sec. for this bull to finally enter the pens inside the bullring. The total number of injured was six runners suffering from gorings and 7 suffering severe concussion and bruising and another 25 runners needed medical attention for various other injuries.
