San Fermín isn’t just about nightlife and crowds. During the day, Pamplona offers plenty of plans designed for children and teenagers, with “fixed” spaces that work as go-to options (parks, squares and leisure areas), as well as traditional activities that kids absolutely love. The best way to organize your day is simple: choose 1–2 main plans and complement them with what’s happening in the official program.
Funfair: the main plan for kids (and a festival classic)
The funfair is set up in the Runa Park Fairground Area, a space officially designated by the City Council as an authorized area for rides and stalls. It covers more than 30,000 m² and can host over 70 attractions, along with booths and shows. Although this is the main hub, the official regulations also allow stalls or attractions in other authorized areas of the city, such as Taconera Park or Bosquecillo Street.
Family and youth areas around the city
In this section, we highlight parks and squares in Pamplona where family-friendly activities take place throughout the festival.
Plaza de la Libertad: Menudas Fiestas!
This square is one of the most family-oriented spaces during the festival: free entertainment with rides, games, inflatables and activities.
It becomes a space designed for children and young people (up to 17 years old), both in the morning and afternoon.
Taconera Park: Birjolastu
A great option to take a break from the busy city center. In Taconera Park, you’ll find play areas aimed at children (up to around 12 years old, depending on the edition), with a focus on play, creativity and awareness.
Media Luna Park: Kirolari – Sport Kids
Perfect for energetic kids (and families looking for an outdoor plan). This activity takes place in the moat area of Media Luna Park and offers a sports and recreational space for children and teenagers (approx. 8–14 years old).
Plaza de los Fueros: Youth Area (ages 12–17)
If you’re traveling with teenagers, this is a key spot. The City Council organizes the Youth Area here, offering leisure activities designed specifically for ages 12 to 17, with a recreational and educational approach.
Traditions and shows children enjoy the most
San Fermín offers a wide variety of activities designed for children. Schedules and routes may change depending on the day, so it’s best to check the official program for exact times and locations.
Children’s Day
The official program includes a dedicated Children’s Day, which many families choose as the best day to attend with kids, as the activities are especially designed for them.
Giants and Big-Heads (with kilikis and zaldikos)
One of the must-see highlights. The official parade includes 25 figures and plays a key role during the festival. Check the official program for schedules.
“Encierro Txiki” (Children’s Running of the Bulls)
The program also includes children’s versions of the running of the bulls (check dates and times).
Fire Bull (Toro de fuego)
Another classic for kids. A person runs along a set route carrying a bull-shaped structure fitted with pyrotechnics (usually sparklers).
This event takes place every day during San Fermín—check the program for times and routes.
Fireworks
The International Fireworks Competition is held at the Citadel (usually at 11:00 p.m., depending on the program).
As a more comfortable alternative, some years you can watch them from the Baluarte terrace, although conditions (minimum age, access format) may vary, so it’s best to check in advance.
