After a very long night of partying, the streets of Pamplona are filled with hundreds of kilos of garbage and other left-overs that are a testimony to the long fiesta nights that the city lives through during Sanfermin.
Dozens of street-cleaners and extra garbage trucks work in the early morning hours during fiestas to try to ensure that the streets of Pamplona can be as clean and shiny as possible in the early morning sunshine and for the morning events to transpire as easily as possible. In fact, Pamplona’s normal year-long cleaning system of recycling material into different containers – recognized as one of the most efficient in the whole State – is not followed during fiestas. The reason is that the huge quantity of garbage which is daily collected makes it impossible to give it the normal treatment that it is given over the rest of the year.
