El Juli is carried out shoulder high, as usually happens

El Juli is suited to Pamplona. He arrives, he fights without any fuss, in a clean and tidy manner, without any pretentiousness or bluffing and he triumphs. And the stands – including those on the sunny side – respect him and like him for that. Perhaps not as popular as Padilla, but more than satisfactorily. It is now almost expected that he be carried out the main gate shoulder high after his bullfights. He was pretty good with his first bull and even better with the second, where he put his entire repertoire on show and only failed in the final strokes when it came to the kill.

Alejandro Talavante was good with his first bull, with some fine passing and cape work. He was given one ear. His second bull did not have a lot to offer, but he could have got another ear if he had not failed with the final killing stroke and so he left El Juli as the only one to get carried out the main entrance shoulder high.

In the case of the third matador, Finito de Córdoba, there is little to say. He was never comfortable in the arena. With the first bull he was in too much of hurry and the stands gave him a loud heckling. He did somewhat better with his second bull and even made some good passes but he finished off the bull very awkwardly and the spectators once again booed him off in the end.
