Stroked by the horn

The final stretch leading down into the bullring was the scene of some of the most dangerous moments in this morning’s Running of the Bulls with the Jandilla bulls. Photographer Carlos Mediavilla caught this moment where a runner tries to get to his feet after falling, without realizing that a bull is right beside him. Only pure Fortune prevented the horns from ripping into the runner in what could have been a mortal goring but the fortunate runner got away with just a gentle stroke of the horns.

This scene reminds us yet again how important it is to stay down on the ground when you fall, with your head covered by your hands, and wait for all the bulls to pass over you, before attempting to get up.
