Fireworks Display in between (another’s) arms and legs |
The fireworks show is an event. And it takes place every night of the fiestas. Tonight, then, there is a fireworks show, rationally enough. And last night there was one. And tomorrow night there will be one. Always at night and always at the same hour of the night. So it can be seen on any day, hence, no sweat if you don’t catch it tonight.
In fact, this event is not difficult to see. It’s a question of heading for the Vuelta del Castillo Park (to get the best view, that is) and stretch yourself out on the grass (or sit down, or sprawl, or lounge or straddle or whatever) and turn your face up to the night sky and repeat “Wow, or Oooh, or Phew, or Cooo”, depending on each one’s particular reaction.

1975
A Fanatic of the Running of the Bulls |
|
It is no easy thing to suffer two mishaps in the same year in the running of the bulls. But some have managed it. In 1975 the veteran runner, Jerónimo Echagúe, did not exactly have his best ever fiestas. He had been taking part in the running of the bulls every year for the past 61 years. He was a well-respected runner who was often asked for advice by other runners. However, on the 7th of that year he was knocked to the ground by a charging bull and taken off to the hospital to have his arm put in a sling. Without more ado, the following morning he escaped from the hospital in which he had been admitted and he managed to run again on the 9th. His luck was out that year for once again a bull charged him and sent him sprawling for a second time. There is no indication that he made any further attempts to run, at least not that year
