The mayor of Iruñea/Pamplona, Yolanda Barcina, will be responsible for launching the txupinazo rocket to open the fiestas eight years after her first accomplishment in 1999.
The decision to name Barcina for this honour was taken this past Wednesday in a meeting of the ruling UPN political party of which she is a member. Consequently, she will become the first woman ever to repeat the experience of launching the txupinazo.
