“The best actor in Sanfermin is one the one who doesn’t have one eye on the camera and who just gets on with doing his own thing”

Valentín Redín is the genuine Renaissance man in the Pamplona of the XX and XXI centuries. Now 60 years old, he has been involved in so many things that his career can only leave one in awe. His best known devotion has been to the theatre, an area where he has received many awards throughout his career. He has directed a great number of theatre works of all varieties - including even a operetta or zarzuela. He was the founder of the resident company for the local Gayarre theater. He has also written : publishing several novels and he has been a habitual contributor to the local press. He has also had a long career in local politics: having been director of Culture for Pamplona City Hall and, until just a short time ago, he worked as press officer for the Regional Government of Navarra. A career with a substantial background. As a director of scenes, we asked how for a general impression of the “theater” that is Sanfermin.
-What is Sanfermin - a comedy, a drama, a tragedy…or a mix of all three?
-Just like the retinue of Dionysius, it has a bit of everything, including the lesser type of genre, such as the comic skit, the burlesque, the grotesque, the absurd.
-And who is the best actor of this show which is called Sanfermin?
-The one who is not looking for the camera and who is doing his own thing.
