The first running of the bulls of Sanfermin 2003 fiestas, with ranches of Alcurrucén (Extremadura), took place at a fast pace, 2:45 minutes, and there were four people slightly hurt at the City Hall stretch, at the Estafeta-Telefónica stretch and the Callejón.

The pack of bulls kept in close order until the entrance to Estafeta street, where two bulls got detached and heralded some moments of danger, but without any consequences. The two detached bulls, a black-colored one and a reddish-colored one, entered the bullring some 20 seconds behind the pack and. without offering any resistance, they were led to the pens by the drovers.

The two injured were taken to the Hospital de Navarra where their condition is not serious. One is from the Rioja region, Alejandro Sarriés López, who received a bang to the head at the City Hall stretch of the run. The other, Sergio Gorostidi Soria, a 24 year-old from Pamplona, suffered a blow to the front of the body.

Two runners were admitted to the Virgen del Camino Hospital. Fermin B.L., a thirty-three year old man from Pamplona suffering from a cut to the eyebrow and bruising to his leg which came about in the Estafeta stretch...
