A local man, J.E.A., aged 37, was seriously injured in the first running of the bulls of this year's Sanfermines, with a broken spleen. Another dozen runners have had to have hospital treatment as a result of contusions and injuries of diverse consideration as a direct result of the running of the bulls. Among the runners there is none who suffered from a goring
J.E.A. was injured on the Santo Domingo stretch and, according to the medical report, he has suffered a hemoneumothórax, broken ribs and a broken spleen. His condition is very serious and he will have to undergo surgery. The injured man has been admitted to the Hospital de Navarra.
Ignacio Yurss, the doctor in charge at Hospital de Navarra, stated that, in this hospital, as well as the above-mentioned injured man, four other runners have been admitted for treatment.
-B.K., aged 26, from Korea, suffering from skull traumatism, was injured on the Santo Domingo stretch. His condition is reserved. He will remain under observation and he will probably be moved to a ward.
-J. P. aged 20, from California, suffering from con a skull traumatism. The injury took place at the City Hall stretch. His condition is reserved He will remain under observation and he will probably be moved to a ward.
-H. A., aged 23, from South Africa, also suffered a skull traumatism although slighter than the others. He was injured in the Telefonica stretch and will soon be discharged from hospital.
-S. G. G., from Malaga, suffered bruising to his left leg and slight contusion. He will shortly be discharged.
At the Hospital Virgen del Camino, eight people have been treated alter the running of the bulls and for the moment only five have been identified:
-A. M. R., aged 22, from Benavente (Zamora), with rib traumatism.
-A. B., 21years old, from England with nasal traumatism and likely fracture.
-C. N., aged 23 , from New Zealand, suffering from a frontal injury.
-E. S. O., aged 32. From Pamplona, with an injury to his right knee.
-T. A. aged 26, from Australia, with a slight injury to his forearm.
