The El Pilar bulls set a new record for the running of the bulls, 13 years later

13/07/2011. The new record is set at 2 min.11sec after beating by just one second the mark set by the Conde de la Corte bulls on the 8th of July, 1998

The El Pilar bulls have set a new record for the running of the bulls after completing the whole length of the course from the pens in Santo Domingo to the pens inside the bullring in just 2 minutes and 11 seconds.

The pack, lead by the fast and furious "Resistón" beat the previous record by one second which had dated from the 8th of July, 1998, when the Conde de la Corte bulls covered the course in just 2 minutes and 12 seconds.

Other fast running of the bulls since 1980, when the first trustworthy records began to be kept, were made by Cebada Gago (10-7-1998) and Torrealta (14-7-1998), at 2min. 13sec. or the running featuring, curiously enough, the El Pilar bulls last year on the 13th of July at 2min.14.sec.

Since 1980 there have been 42 runnings of the bulls which have finished under two and a half minutes. This year the bullrunnings have been especially fast as the Victoriano del Río bulls just yesterday covered the whole course in just 2min.16sec
