Homage to The Oktoberfest in this second edition of “Jai Day”

08/07/2010. Kukuxumusu unites Sanfermin fiestas to the popular German festival with a party scene in the purest Bavarian style

Kukuxumusu today celebrated the II Jai Day, -The Day of The Festival - with a homage to the Oktoberfest from Munich and which had all the ingredients of the genuine Bavarian festival; sausages, German beer and even German decorations in the purest Bavarian style. And it all took place in the heart of the Sanfermin atmosphere which captivated hundreds of people who turned up at the txoko of the Oinez, where the event took place.

After the town-twinning last year between Kukuxumusu and the Tomatina de Bunyol, the festival celebrated this year was with the German Oktoberfest and the Pamplona firm. Celebrations began at abour 12.30 midday today, after a street parade from the old part of Pamplona to the txoko del Oinez, in theTaconera Park. Here, accompanied by the German music group, Happy Bavarians, the traditional opening of the beer barrel took place, to the shouts of "O 'zapft is!", just as happens in the October Munich festival.

Then, the first liters of the 1.000-liter Lowenbräu barrel were served up along with some genuine German sausage and the party began for all those present. Among the guests at the party were; Mikel Urmeneta, Koldo Aiestaran and Gonzalo Domínguez de Bidaurreta, the three founder-members of Kukuxumusu, the honorary German consul from San Sebastián, Paul Schröeder and a large crowd of Germans, visitors to Sanfermin.
