Pablo Hermoso de Mendoza, Fermín Bohórquez and Sergio Galán yesterday were carried shoulder-high after the horseback bullfights celebrated yesterday at the Monumental de Pamplona bullring. It was a spectacular triumph for the three bullfighters with their horses - although some spectators felt some of the ears awarded were a bit over-generous. The bullring was packed with people, in a totally different atmosphere to the wild partying going on in the streets of Iruñea /Pamplona and most of them seemed happy with the generosity shown by the president of the day's bullfights.
At six thirty in the afternoon the Pamplona Bullring was completely full, ready and waiting for the first bull event of the Sanfermin 2010 fiestas. The bullfighters came out on parade on horseback. The local boy, the Navarran, Hermoso de Mendoza was awarded two ears in his first fight and he made the whole stadium buzz with delight at his skills on horseback in fighting the bull. With his second bull he was awarded one ear. The bullfighter from Jerez, Bohórquez also had a very good afternoon in the Navarra capital and with very classic bullfighting skills; he also managed to leave the bullring to shoulder-high acclaim and with two ears. The third bullfighter, Sergió Galán, was also awarded two ears and he displayed great skill with his second bull, where he got both ears for his good work.
