At the bulls, in fancy dress

11/07/2010. Colorful aprons, all kinds of headgear and carnival fancy dress are just some ways to stand out in a crowd at the bullfights

Well-supplied with good food, well supplied with drink and even well-dressed for the show. Anything goes when it is time for the afternoon bull fights. The best part of the show is downing plenty of good food and drink and to get a few songs in and if someone finds their old fancy dress outfit from four or five months back, why not go in for a bit of fancy dress as well? It all helps the partying to keep going.

It seems that there are more and more people who think that wearing white to the bulls is just not the thing. Bright colorful aprons are much better protection from flying food and drink. Weird and colorful headgear will catch the eye much better if you want to stand out in the crowd. Curiously enough, it is the ones who are trying to be discreet who usually end up getting lots of staining food and drink thrown at them. So better to stand out from the beginning and maybe the crowd will take you for such a poser that they just ignore you. And the discreet dresser near you is the one who ends up with all the egg on his face in the literal sense of the expression.

So the white and red are best kept for a more formal occasion and the fancy dress for the bullring is maybe best as this is one of the few places where anything goes. That is how these guys you see in the photo must think. To help their partying mood they have dressed up as Spanish dancers, matadors, and just about anything else they could find .Some of the stuff on the 10th - the day of the Giants - was really well done. Some real style on the day could be seen by all.
