The Press, attracted by Sanfermin

09/07/2008. The Running of the Bulls has 375 accredited journalists. Kukuxumusu attends to an average of ten media consultations per day

Media such as Spanish National Radio and TV, Telecinco Television and the Cuatro Channel are just some of the big media groups to be found in Pamplona these days. There are also many foreign journalists from other European countries and from The USA who have come to cover the Sanfermin fiestas. According to data coming from the International Press Office some 230 journalists gather to cover the txupinazo, the running of the bulls and the final event, the Pobre de Mí. Just for the running of the bulls alone there are 375 accreditations between journalists and technicians.

Many of the media come to Kukuxumusu as a source of information on the Sanfermin fiestas as they make a strong link between the fiestas and Kukuxumusu. From The Drawing Factory an effort is made to attend to the different media but this is not always easy because of the work rate of these busy days. According to Edurne Arrizibita, from the Communications Department at Kukuxumusu, "Each year there are more and more national and international media calling to have interviews and this means making a bigger and bigger effort each year." The Drawing Factory attends to an average of ten media organizations per day, regional, national and international.

The meeting with Ana Valls, a reporter from the Canal Nou TV channel from Valencia is a typical example of the daily work made by The Drawing Factory. Ana decided, at her own initiative that the Sanfermin fiestas should be made more familiar to her viewers in Valencia. She knew that Valencia and Pamplona share gastronomic and taurino customs and so she decided to come with her team. In her report she talks about the typical Sanfermin gear, "white with a red sash and necktie", and, speaking of this, "the Kukuxumusu drawings cannot be omitted from the question of dress as they have become an icon of the fiesta and their blue bull is to be seen in all corners of the fiesta", she states, referring to Mr. Testis the Kukuxumusu mascot.

In addition to attending to the media, Kukuxumusu organizes several events such as the tasting of the Kulumutxu, the drink created by Jose Andres, the TV chef, for these fiestas. In addition, there is the sponsorship of the Guiri of the Year award, handed over on Guiri Day. These kinds of things keep Kukuxumusu at the heart of the fiestas as well as the drawings themselves that they produce for their tee shirts.
