A 28 year-old man from Valladolid, I.F.R., received a horn wound at the initial stretch of Estafeta street during the running of the fourth day of the Sanfermines. He was operated on in The Hospital de Navarra and his condition is reserved.
The goring to his right thigh caused a double wound with two different trajectories, the first, a 10-centimeter upward cut that affected the skin tissue and the second a 15-centimeter inwards that dissects the external duct. The goring did not provoke any damage to the vascular-nerve system. The runner from Valladolid is now in the ward of the Orthopedic Surgery section of the Hospital de Navarra.
In addition, as a consequence of today`s running of the bulls, six other runners were taken off to Navarra Public Health Hospitals
The emergency service of The Hospital de Navarra treated the following patients:
- D.J., aged 31, from Florida (EEUU), with skull traumatism will remain under observation for 24 hours. He was injured at the City Hall stretch of the run.
- J.G.H.N., aged 62 , from Pamplona, is suffering from banal skull traumatism. He suffered the injury in the Mercaderes stretch. His condition is not serious and he will be discharged later today.
- J.M.V., aged 39, from Valencia, suffered banal skull traumatism and grazes to his right leg . He has already been discharged from hospital. He suffered his injuries in the Mercaderes section.
The Emergency Services of The Hospital Virgen del Camino have treated the following runners:
- P.A.N., aged 33 from Pamplona, suffered multiple bruising at the Mercaderes stretch. He remains under observation and his condition is stable.
- A.D.L., age 33,from Pamplona, suffered banal skull traumatism at Mercaderes stretch. He has already been discharged.
- C.D.B., age 48 años, from Pamplona, suffered banal skull traumatism at the City Hall stretch. He has already been discharged.
Two of the injured from the first day`s running have been discharged
In the last few hours, two of the runners who were admitted to Hospital de Navarra after the first running of this year`s Sanfermines have been discharged: J.P., a 20-year-old male from California (EEUU), and B.K., a 26 year-old male from Korea.
The Hospital de Navarra now have the following number still in the hospital:
-J.E.A., a 37-year-old male from Lekunberri (Navarra). he was injured on the 7th. He is suffering from a thoratic traumatism with hemoneumothórax from multiple rib fractures and a broken spleen as well as surrouding abdominal bruising. He remains in the ICU and is making favorable progress within the gravity of his condition.
-A.G.H., aged 37, from Amorebieta (Vizcaya). He was injured on the 8th. He suffered traumatism to his right elbow and back lumbar region as well as a fracture to his lumbar vertebra. He is progressing favorablly and his condition is stable.
- W.M.D., from California, (EEUU) aged 22 received a goring on the 9th to his buttocks and he was operated on yesterday in The General Surgery Section. His condition is stable within the gravity of his wound.
In addition in The Hospital Virgen del Camino the following are in wards:
-E.I.P., aged 31 from Bilbao. Ihe was admitted on the 8th with a goring to his interior right thigh which did nt affect the deeper regions. He was operated on the same day and his now in the ward of the Orthopedic Surgery Section. His condition is good and he is making good progress.
-J.M.I.S., aged 45, from Pamplona. He was admitted on the 8th with an open fracture to his right knee and fibula and perone. He was operated on the same day and later sent to a ward of th Orthopedic Surgery Service. His condition is grave and he is making favorable progress.
