The stretch leading into the bull ring
The width between the two sides of fencing is only three meters and the pack of bulls and all the runners must squeeze into this final stretch. The bulls don’t have much problem in opening space for themselves but the runners, thanks to the slope, have problems keeping their balance and also their speed. However, there are some gaps in the fencing that fallen runners can crawl through. Once on the ground, it is important not to try to get to one’s feet on this stretch, not so much for the bulls, as for the runners crowding behind. In addition, it is advisable not to charge into the bull ring behind the bulls as these often turn back here and the runner could find himself with a bull in front of him and the closed entrance gate behind him( once the last bull has run through the entrance, the gate is closed to ensure better safety).
