Pío Guerendiáin in the Sanfermin.com gallery

16/04/2009. The Sanfermin.com photo gallery now has a set of pictures of the Bullrun taken from the "cat flap" on the Mercaderes bend

Pío Guerendiáin has immortalised the Bullrun with his photos since the Seventies. His latest pictures are in black and white and the Sanfermin.com gallery shows a selection of beautiful pictures of bulls and runners for us to enjoy.
The photos from the Seventies show Bullruns with fewer people in which it looks like they want to take the bend without hitting the barrier. Sand can also be seen on the cobbled streets so that the bulls can get a better grip and not slip. Many details can be seen in these pictures, particularly in the ones taken from the "cat flap", a narrow, half-metre-long rectangle at horn height, from which it is almost possible to touch the animals. Pío Guerendiáin told Sanfermin.com that he had to stand away from the wood to take the pictures because the whole barrier moves when the bulls hit it, which would have sent him flying.
