Like many things during the San Fermin fiesta, problems of space, more than anything else, mean that access is limited to the "encierrillo". Free passes are available a few days before the San Fermin fiesta from the office of Pamplona City Council's Culture Department in Calle Descalzos. It's first come, first served and only two passes are available per person. 1600 passes are distributed for the "encierrillos" of the 6th to the 13th, 200 a day. For further information, ring the Pamplona City Council Culture Department on +34 948 22 20 08.
Last year, queues formed a few hours before the doors were opened. If you can't get hold of one of these passes, then there is a direct view from Paseo de Ronda and from the Rotxapea, next to the Puente de Curtidores. But on the Paseo de Ronda, you can only see from the edge of the city walls and in the Rotxapea, the only people with a chance of seeing anything are those who manage to get to the front row of the second line of the barrier.
