7th of July, Peñajara

This bull-breed has not come to Sanfermin since their debut on the 11th of July, 1998

In 1998 they ran the course in 2,54" and the bulls made several charges at runners along the whole length of the course., but especially at the first stretch in Santo Domingo. There were no injuries from the horns of the bulls that day but one runner was admitted to hospital after being run over by the pack. Inside the bullring three bulls arrived separately and this meant that it took longer to coax them towards the pens.

They have never run before on the 7th of July, which is statistically the day when the most bruises and falls are caused. On the other hand, this year the 7th is a Wednesday which is the day of the week when the least number of gorings take place (at least since the data about the running of the bulls has been collected) (0,8 per running of the bulls on Wednesdays.)

Last year this breed did not participate in Sanfermin fiestas due to illness and this year they return with the aim of recovering their good name.
