Some guys from Kikomics de La Coruña have got in touch with us through Facebook to tell us about the publication of a new series of comics from Marvel under the title of Defenders. In their first issue they make reference to the Pamplona running of the bulls in some of their drawings. To be more precise, it is the She-Hulk character that undergoes an encounter in Pamplona - which is drawn with a pretty clear precision- and where it shows the character spurring on the pack of fighting bulls along the streets of the city. This first issue has been brought out for the American market for December 2011 and it is being sold at a price of four dollars. It is planned to publish the stories on a monthly basis and the following two issues are already in the pipeline.
In this particular first issue, the principal superheroes from Marvel must defeat a world-wide conspiracy and to do so they have counted on two of the best comic creators with regard to scripts and drawings and experts in the art of terror;Matt
Fraction (Thor, Iron Man) and Terry Dodson (Uncanny X-Men and Sensational Spider-Man). This publication company which belongs to Disney has brought together some of its favorite comic characters to solve the problem of a mysterious conspiracy at the center of the Marvel Universe. The promotional title of the story "The last line of defense against unknown forces of evil!".
Up to now the only known reference within the comic world to San Fermin and the running of the bulls was to be found in Ferminua, a comic made by Carles Recio and Paco Zarco. The plot of their comic strip had a character called "San Cuernín" who terrorized the population and where there were bullfights played out using humans instead of bulls. Only the heroine who went by the name of Ferminua was capable of freeing the people from their tyrannical oppression.
