According to Chapu Apolaza in his blog Nadandoconchocos, Cadiz will be the venue for the scenes from Knight and Day, starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. This is not the first time that scenes of The Running of the Bulls have been filmed in other locations. The movie, Fiesta made by Henry King, which dealt explicitly with the Pamplona fiestas, was actually filmed in Mexico. The author of the original novel, Ernest Hemingway, was not at all pleased to learn about this fact but he could do nothing to change the locations. It seems that Pamplona itself cannot guarantee some of the demands of film producers - for example, guaranteed sunshine and access of shooting facilities among them. But perhaps it is more important that the images of The Running of the Bulls are shown in a first-class production movie than to have them actually filmed in Estafeta Street rather than in some street in Cadiz.
The movie is a thriller of action and adventures in which Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise come together in a passionate tale of love and hate in several different countries. One of the settings will be Pamplona even if the streets used are actually in Cadiz. The director is James Mangold (The 3.30 train; Kate and Leopold) and it is expected to be finished by July, 2010 with the possibility of a premiere in Pamplona before the real Running of the Bulls start on the 7th of July. Regular runners from Pamplona as well as some runners from San Sebastian de Los Reyes have offered their services for the filming of the bullrunnings.
