According to a press release just issued by the charitable trust- The Casa de Misericordia de Pamplona which organizes the annual Sanfermin bullrunning - their selection committee - the Comisión Taurina for Sanfermin 2012 has selected one new bull ranch this year - the Torrehandilla-Torreherberos bull-breed, from Linares (Jaén). The other novelty is the return after several years' absence of the Juan Pedro Domecq bulls from Castillo de la Guardia (Seville). These bulls were last seen at the 2005 Sanfermin Fiestas. The two bull-ranches from last year which failed to make the list for these coming fiestas of 2012m are both the well-known Torrestrella and Núñez del Cuvillo bulls. The remaining bull-ranches are all pretty much regular comers each year, among them the MIURA bulls from Lora del Río (Seville), VICTORIANO DEL RÍO CORTÉS from Miraflores de la Sierra (Madrid), HEREDEROS DE José CEBADA GAGO from Medina Sidonia (Cadiz), DOLORES AGUIRRE YBARRA from Constantina (Seville), and the EL PILAR from Tamames (Seville) and finally the FUENTE YMBRO bulls from San José del Valle (Cadiz).
The Torrehandilla-Torreherberos bull-ranch belongs to Joaquín Morales who bought out this La Marquesa bull ranch in 2005. Morales purchased this century-old ranch and the Teófilo Segura bull-breed. The cows came from Fernando Domecq when he was in possession of the Jandilla breed.
The Juan Pedro Domecq bulls will make a reappearance this year after being absent since 2005. They have made a total of three previous appearances in Pamplona. They have an average speed in covering the course in 2min. 38sec. and they have caused one goring and left 10 injured runners behind them along the course.
The Dolores Aguirre bulls have been making uninterrupted appearances since 2002 and they have made 12 appearances in the running of the bulls in total. Their average time over the length of the course works out at exactly three minutes and they have caused a total of 13 injuries which works out at one per running of the bulls.
The Miura bulls have been making uninterrupted appearances at the annual Sanfermin event ever since 1980 - a total of 32 appearances. Over the last fifteen years they have become more dangerous than in their earlier period and they have an average time of 3min. 20secs. They have caused a total of 11 gorings over this period.
The Cebada Gago bulls have made a total of 26 appearances in Pamplona and they have caused a total of 43 gorings as well as another 95 injuries of diverse nature. In 1985 they made their debut at Sanfermin and since 1998 they have been constantly selected each year. Their average time is 3min. 10sec.
The Victoriano del Río bulls will run for the third time in Sanfermin this year. These bulls cover the course in an average time of 2min.16sec. In each of their appearances they have always caused at least one goring along the course.
The El Pilar bulls cover the course at an average speed of 2min. 48sec. They have participated in a total of three runnings of the bulls. They have taken part in the last two consecutive years. In three years they have caused a total of two gorings and 11 other injured.
The Fuente Ymbro bulls have been constant since their debut in 2005. These bulls have made a total of seven appearances and they have covered the course in an average time of 3min. 04secs. A total of three runners have suffered gorings from these bulls and another 23 have suffered diverse injuries.
