El Juli repeats his earlier triumph and Juan Mora risks all and gets gored

15/07/2011. “El Juli” turns out to be the clear winner of the Pamplona bullfighting week, getting a great response from his second bull. Meanwhile, the other two matadors, Castella and Juan Mora are left empty-handed after the final day of bullfighting of Sanfermin 2011

"El Juli" repeated his success of earlier in the week and was triumphant for the second time this year in the Pamplona bullring. He showed that a first-class bullfighter can come to Pamplona in Sanfermin and - despite the hullaballoo in the bullring - confront the biggest bulls of the season - be awarded their ears and make his exit by being carried shoulder-high through the main gate of the bullring to the acclaim of the public. And get well-paid for his trouble. Without any show of fear, with a lot of skill and with the backing of an enthusiastic public, he won over the public and impressed everyone and lives to tell the rest of the bullfighting world that it is posible and fine to come to Pamplona and succeed. He had to take great care with his second bull because after the first one he could only hear the pleasant strains of the La Pamplonesa brass band and he could only accept that nothing comes for free in this bullring.

Juan Mora tried his best but he received two gorings in his second bull. He was operated on inside the bullring and then taken off to hospital where he is out of danger and in ward. The Frenchman, Sebastián Castella, appeared and disappeared without pain or glory, even for his compatriots who turned up in large number to watch the bullfights yesterday.
