PILE-UPS

These pile-ups are due to some people falling over and starting of the run a chain-reaction in the tight field which is going so fast and with the entrance so tight, causes a sudden pile-up of bodies.

Usually they take place in the very same part!, The Callejon, a very narrow side where the runners pass very fast.Luckily, these pile-ups don´t occur too often- the last great one took place in 1977. But when they happen it is something really frightening (click if you want to see a case in point). The bulls pile over the bodies causing havoc, or they turn back up the passageway (equally dangerous). There is usually a long list of wounded runners in the cases - and maybe even some dead.
