HOW TO COMUNICATE
POST OFFICE
The central office of the posts and telegraph company is
to be found in Paseo Sarasate -9. The telephone number is
948 20 68 40. This is the outlet for your contacts with
the exterior world. They provide Internet and a fax service.
This office tends to get
very busy and it’s not a bad idea to go to the suburban
offices which can be found in Jus La Rocha (948 14 56 50),
Sancho el Fuerte (948 17 16 15), Amaya street (948 23 26
08) and Santesteban street in Txantrea neighborhood (948
12 44 20).
TELEPHONE
To make a call, there are lots of telephone boxes (card
and money) situated all round the city. They don't return
unused change from calls:. if you put in a 2 € coin
(say, about 2 dollars worth) and you make a call worth 0'20
€ (say, a couple of dimes worth) then the State Telephone
Company will gratefully swallow up the difference without
even saying thanks!
A local urban call costs 0'20 €.
There is an information service on state numbers available
on 11818 (it is not free). For the same information on international
lines ring 11825.
For state calls you can reverse payment by ringing 1009.
For international calls you can reverse payment by ringing
1008 for Europe and the North African Countries - Algeria,
Libia, Morocco, Tunis and also for Turkey. The number for
the rest of the world is 1005.
If you want to call any of the local numbers for the various
different services we mention in this guide, you should
first dial 34 - the prefix for the Spanish state, then dial
948 - the prefix for Navarra- and then dial the local number.
To make an international call from inside the Spanish state
you must dial 00 to get a line and then you dial the number
for the particular country (if you don’t know the
number then dial for information to the 025 number). Then
you dial the regional prefix and then the local number.
During the Sanfermin fiesta
it is a hassle trying to call from public telephone boxes.
There is continual noise in the street, half the phones
are likely to be out of order and the other half will have
disheartenly long queues at them. At night it tends to be
even worse.
There are a lot of phone services all around the city, specially
the old part, where you can call cheaper.
There is another way of recharging the phones in the cash
dispensers; you introduce the card and choose the option
“recharge”.
INTERNET - E-MAIL - CYBERCAFES
If you want to use INTERNET there are some cybercafés
available:
Kuria.Net (Curia Street 15th, near to Cathedral, 948 22 30 77): every day, from 8:30 to 23:00 h.
