(THE BULL-RUNNING)


Luis del CAMPO JESÚS, He was born in Pamplona the 31st of march of 1912 and he went to Zaragoza to do his higher studies of Medicine. He worked as a forensic scientist and became academician of Medicine in Zaragoza and head of Department in the University of Navarra. He also devoted a lot of his time to write books about Medicine, biographies of important historical figures of Navarra, historical essays, but above all of them, books related with the Taurine world. He has been considered an authority on the subject and among all his books about the bulls
the reader can find the following tittles: “El encierro de los toros”, “El encierrillo”, “Cómo y por qué muere el toro de lidia”, “Pamplona y sus plazas de toros”, “Toreros Goyescos en Pamplona”, “El traje del torero de a pie”, “Pamplona y su primera plaza de toros fija”, “Pamplona y toros. Siglo XVII”, “Pamplona y toros. Siglo XVIII”, “Historia Trágica del Encierro”…etc.

He was very keen on the matter, and one of the person who researched and wrote more about the bulls in Pamplona. He died in 1995, with 83 years old.
