The story of the most successful “MEME” of Sanfermin 2015

It has become the “meme” of Sanfermin 2015, the most popular viral content in all the social networks. Practically everyone or everything that has a connection with Sanfermin and with Pamplona or with the fiestas, yesterday received this photo which shows a young man holding desperately to one of the fencing posts, as the worker is taking down the bullrunning fencing.

But this particular story has its own story. And it all started in the offices of Sanfermin. Com. The last Running of the Bulls of 2015 had just finished, and all the staff had had their annual “de rigor” photo taken with all the photographers and staff – on this occasion in homage to the journalist – Juan Yeregui – and someone suddenly mentioned the idea of taking a photo of the group holding on to one of the posts as if to prevent it from being taken up by the workers who were just then dismantling the wooden fencing from the streets.

As it was coffee break time, and as there was a lot of “to and fro” and a lot of people around, it was only our colleague, Manu Corera, better known as “Sanferman” who actually got down on the ground to grab hold of the post. Photographer, Iñaki Vergara, took the snapshot and soon all of us who were working close by, began to send off the photo to friends and colleagues so that they could see how obsessed our colleague Manu was, with the fiestas.

The image spread like a bush fire within a few hours. By the early afternoon the Navarra designer, Iker Fernandez had received it and converted it into a “meme”. – Whatsapp, Facebook, twitter, or Instagram did the rest. Several media outlets have echoed it in their editions of today.

The poster was taken away of course, and it is now resting in place, until next year comes along. It appreciates its moment of fame and the fact that Manu did not scratch it. Not long to go. Also for the post.
