One runner gored and another with a slight wound alter the third running of the bulls of Sanfermin 2008

A young American, W.M.D., aged 22, from California received a goring to 12 centimeters to his right buttock, without penetration of the abdominal cavity. He also received an injury to his right crest, according to the medical report published by The Emergency Services of The Hospital of Navarra where he was admitted after receiving the goring at the start of the Estafeta stretch.

The young Californian has already been operated on and he is now in ward, in the Surgical Section of the hospital. He is now awaiting examination from the orthopedic surgical service. His condition is unstable, but his life is not in danger.

Furthermore, another young runner, O.P.P, aged 20, from Greece was also injured in this morning’s running of the bulls. He was taken to the Emergency Service of the Hospital Virgen del Camino, after suffering a nasal traumatism on stretch of City Hall square. His condition is not serious and he may be discharged later today.


The Hospital de Navarra still has some patients from the previous days’ runnings:

-J.P. male, aged 20, from California (USA) injured on the 7th. He suffered a skull fracture and continues in hospital under observation. His progress is good and he may be discharged later today.

-B.K. male, aged 26, from Korea. He suffered injury on the 7th. He has a skull fracture and is under observation in the ward. His progress is favorable.


- J.E.A. male, aged 37, from Lekunberri (Navarra). He was injured on the 7th. He suffered a thoracic traumatism with hemoneumothorax from multiple rib fractures, a fissure of the speen and surrounding abdominal bruising. He remains in Intensive Care Unit, and making favorable progress although his condition is grave.

-A.G.H., aged 37, from Amorebieta (Vizcaya). He was injured on the 8th. He suffered traumatism to his right elbow and back lumbar zone, as well as a fracture to his lumbar vertebra. He is making good progress and his condition is steady.

Furthermore, The Virgen del Camino Hospital has two patients admitted to ward:

- E.I.P. age 31, from Bilbao. He was admitted yesterday with a horn wound to the interior of his left thigh without serious penetration. He was operated on yesterday and is in the orthopedic surgery ward. His condition is stable and he is making good progress.

- J.M.I.S., aged 45 and from Pamplona. He was admitted yesterday to hospital with an open fracture to his right ankle at the level of tibia and fibula. He was operated on yesterday and later admitted to the orthopedic surgery ward. His condition is serious although he is making good progress.
